Day 18 Paris – Walk from the Louvre to the Arc de Triumphe

Carrousel du Louvre

Getting off the metro at the Louvre, I made a final visit to the Carrousel du Louvre, the shops underneath the square, where the inverted pyramid is, primarily to get warm again, get some food, and have a bit of a ‘rest’ at the apple store!

Rue de Rivoli

I walked along Rue de Rivoli, admiring the buildings on the northern side. It really is an amazing street – one day it would be good to live in the apartments looking out over the Jardin des Tuileries.

Once I arrived at the Concorde Metro, I took the train to Charles de Gaulle Étoile station, which is right under the Arc de Triomphe.

Arc de Triomphe

I decided not to pay to go up to the top (I couldn’t face the stairs), so I wandered around the base for a while.

I settled in for an omlette dinner looking out at the Arc de Triumphe at Bistro Romain (rather pricy, but what do you expect with it being on the Champs Élysées with a view of the Arc de Triumphe??).
