I walked down Bahnhofstrasse, Zürich’s main downtown street, a few times. It’s apparently one of the world’s most expensive and exclusive shopping avenues.
It was built when the city fortifications were demolished in 1864 and the ditch in front of the walls was filled in and runs 1.4km from Bahnhofplatz (Station Square) to Bürkliplatz on Lake Zürich.
There are lots of trams and a magnificent chocolate shop – I should have bought more than just one piece!
