This is my first photo challenge I have done on this blog! I went through my archives to find some signs – these ones in particular are from a trip I did in Feb / March 2013 to New Zealand.
I often take photos of signs because I like them, and also they give a perspective on where you are at a given time!
Enjoy!
These next two photos were taken in Christchurch. When I was there the city was still in the early stages of recovering from the earthquake that flattened so much of the city on 22 February 2011. Even though it had been 1 1/2 years since the earthquake, the extent of the damage left lots of open spaces when the badly damaged buildings were removed. Someone (very clever) decided to have “pop-up gap fillers” in these vacant lots to entice people back to the city. Here’s one of them….
On my road trip I came across this river – I just loved the contrast between the colour of the river and the red bridge. I just took a photo of the sign tor remember where I was so that I could look back and know the location, but I also like the contrast of the yellow.
I used to work for RailCorp (which no longer exists) in Sydney NSW, so I have an affinity with railway stations. This station is spectacular. If you ever get the chance, you should go there.
I haven’t eaten gluten in many years, so it meant missing out on so much different food, including burgers. Fergburger in Queenstown is famous for it’s burgers, and they had gluten free buns and patties!! I just had to have one. I ate it down by the lake. It was soooo good!
I took a pit-stop at Wanaka, and just loved this little beach with the mountains in the background.
I also took a stop at the Roaring Meg Hydro-electric Scheme, one of the main electricity power stations.
Another stop at Cromwell and I saw this wooden sign for a lolly (sweet / candy) shop.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the photos I’ve put together for this challenge!
